General Liability

General Liability insurance provides coverage for the Institute, its directors, officers, faculty, and staff when acting within their duties as such. It covers claims/suits brought by a third party arising from negligent acts and/or omissions resulting in property damage, bodily injury, or personal injury for which they are legally liable.

MIT students are also considered as insureds under the Institute’s policy, but only to the extent they are officially representing the Institute in whatever action or activity that leads to a claim against them. Coverage also applies to student activities through sponsored Institute clubs.

The coverage applies to legal liabilities incurred worldwide.
