Health Insurance Options for MIT Graduated Students and MIT Affiliates

MIT Insurance office announces the availability of a Health/Travel insurance program for parties needing such coverage while traveling internationally. This program is provided by IMG Global and is intended for:

1. Recently graduated MIT students traveling more than 90 days1 (from their date of graduation) while traveling on MIT related/funded business.
2. MIT students while traveling on leisure travel2.
3. Individuals participating in a pre-function trip prior to starting an academic program at MIT, and:
4. MIT affiliates

IMG Global offers 2 available programs. Below we have provided a brief outline of the 2 programs, however, you should review the IMG Global website for detailed coverage offerings and limitations. Please review their program offerings to find the right fit for you. Once you have reviewed you may purchase coverage via the same site.

Patriot Exchange Program

Student Health Advantage

  • Preferable for short term travel - for trips estimated for 3 – 4 months.  (Can purchase for as little as 4 days and is renewable up to 4 years.)
  • Available for individuals and/or groups of 5 or more
  • Coverage for sudden illness or injury.
  • $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 & $500,000 per injury/illness
  • $100 deductible
  • Eligible medical charges covered at 100% including doctors, hospitals
  • Coverage includes Emergency evacuation, reunion, return of mortal remains
  • Accidental Death
  • Coverage for dependents

 

  • Preferable for longer term travel - 6 months and longer
  • Standard and Platinum options available
  • Available for individuals and groups of 5 or more
  • $300,000 & $500,000 per injury/illness
  • $25, $50 and $100 deductibles
  • Eligible medical charges including doctors, hospitals, RX drugs, outpatient and emergency room.
  • Coverage includes accidental death, Emergency Evacuation, reunion and mortal remains
  • Coverage for club and intramural sports
  • Pre-existing conditions, mental, nervous, maternity coverage
  • Coverage for dependents
